An effective civil society is the backbone of thriving communities and countries. Civil society is the realm of organized social life that is self-generating and autonomous from the state. Independent groups that make up this space shape public policy, keep governments accountable, promote peace, defend human rights and foster the well-being of citizens. FHI 360’s programs improve the ability of citizens to solve their own problems, to influence policy and to monitor government performance.
Our grant-management programs, which include regular training and training assistance, engage international and in-country partners to build the capacity of local civil society organizations. Our programs also create networking opportunities among grant recipients. The flexibility of our comprehensive approach allows us to respond to narrow windows of opportunity, while still achieving concrete results.
