FROM THE CEO
The reckless and violent actions at the U.S. Capitol — and the campaign of disinformation over the preceding months that incited the assault — are an affront to all people who believe in governance grounded in rule of law, ethical behavior and democratic principles. While America’s democratic institutions withstood the rioters’ effort to overturn the results of a free and fair election, their actions exposed the fragility of democracy and the need to rebuild the strength and reputation of U.S. democratic institutions in the eyes of American citizens and the world.
America remains on a precipice. In this climate of uncertainty and division, FHI 360’s work has never been more important. We reaffirm our commitment to building a culture of dialogue and mutual understanding to address the problems that undermine democratic institutions and values. Only by working together can we help ensure that people from diverse backgrounds and experiences in the United States and around the world have the opportunity to reach their highest potential.
FHI 360 joins with public and civic leaders and institutions around the world in calling for Americans of all political parties to come together to uphold the rule of law and respect basic democratic principles.
