In many countries, unemployment, especially among youth, has reached crisis proportions. Through our global programs in workforce development, FHI 360 applies a systemic approach to addressing the job challenges faced by many resource-constrained countries.
FHI 360’s programs partner with local institutions, organizations and businesses to equip job seekers with in-demand skills through training and certification and guide them to open positions. Our programs often target at-risk youth, internally displaced persons, single mothers and civilian victims of conflict. Specific and targeted job skills training to these populations can significantly improve their employability and lead to gainful employment, which has the potential to increase their economic well-being. FHI 360’s approach focuses on both supply and demand — providing much-needed skills training to job seekers while meeting the private sector’s desire for workers with specialized skills. Unlike traditional job training programs, which may be disconnected from the needs of businesses in the real world, FHI 360’s programs bring a strong private-sector-oriented approach that bridges the critical gap between education and employment.
